Irton Hall is a stunning holiday location comprising of bed & breakfast accommodation and self catering apartments.

There is an on site bar serving local ales from the Strands Brewery, Ennerdale Brewery, Hesket Newmarket Brewery and Hawkshead Brewery all reasonably priced and we also have a full range of bar meals for the use of all guests.

Irton Hall is set in the foothills of the Western fells of the Lake District between Wasdale and Eskdale.

Parts of the magnificent hall, such as the Pele Tower, date from the 14th century.

Irton Hall Bed & Breakfast accommodation comprises of 13 tasteful newly furnished bedrooms with fully tiled modern en suite bathrooms.

All rooms have direct dial telephone, free wi-fi, LED flat screen TVs, i-pod docking station, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge & hair-dryer.

Guests can relax in the lounge bar which is transformed into a breakfast room each morning, offering a full English breakfast together with a range of cereals, pastries etc.

Irton Hall self catering accommodation consists of the following properties:- The Pele Tower (Sleeps 16 self catering) creates a totally unique holiday venue on four floors featuring spacious rooms with beams, sandstone walls and an original stone spiral staircase from top to bottom of the tower.

The third floor family bedroom and en-suite are accessed via this spiral staircase; the other floors have additional standard staircase access, whilst the first floor living room has a leisure area with pool table.

Copeland House (Sleeps 9 self catering) is the centre section of the hall, next to the original Pele Tower, and what was once an 18th century ballroom is now the very spacious living/dining room.

The marble floors, tall ceilings and chandeliers create an opulent holiday environment.

Lamplugh House (sleeps 8 self catering) is set beside the main hall and is a delightful, semi-detached property with spacious rooms looking out over grounds, having its own private sitting-out area and freedom to roam the nature trails within the woods.

Lingard Cottage (sleeps 4 self catering) is a semi-detached cottage to the side of the main hall and has its own entrance hall and French doors to sitting-out area.

Ormondroyd Cottage (sleeps 4 self catering) is also a semi-detached cottage to the side of the main hall with its own entrance hall and French doors from the living room to a small balcony overlooking open countryside.

All self catering properties: Elec, bed linen and towels inc.

Gas CH (on timer) inc Oct-Apr, (£10 per day May-Sep, by arrangement) 19-acre shared lawned parkland and natural woodland.

No smoking.

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Both Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI visited the hall, although it is reputed that Henry VI was refused entry and spent the night under the 1000 year old oak tree in front of the house, known as 'The King's Oak'.

Surrounded by 19 acres of natural parkland where children can play to their hearts' content and guests may wander and explore the natural habitats of abundant wildlife in the grounds.

A short drive will bring you to wide sandy beaches, the Eskdale miniature steam railway at Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle and Gardens which also house the unique International Owl Sanctuary.

The Langdales are to the east, accessed via the Hard Knott Pass and Wrynose Pass, whilst Wasdale and Wastwater with their amazing views of Great Gable and Scafell Pike are 5 miles away.

Ideally situated at the heart of the western Lake District, many lakes are within easy reach such as Ennerdale Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere, whether to stroll along the banks and watch the reflection of the drifting clouds in the Lakes, or expend some energy climbing the rugged hills to admire the stunning views from the top the choices are endless.

The historic port and marina of Whitehaven which hosts the Tall Ships Race every two years is 14 miles, with shops, restaurants, museums and many holiday activities.
